RUPERT RECEIVES OAM
It was the most humbling of experiences for Rupert to be honoured with an Order of Australia medal for his services to the community, particularly as a poet. Never in his wildest dreams as a starry-eyed kid collecting aluminium cans on the hills of Dolphin Oval on the Redcliffe Peninsula did he ever envisage such a chapter in his life. He will do his absolute best to uphold the traditions and the responsibilties that go with such an honour resting over his heart.

RUPERT AND THE AFGHANISTAN BOYS
As a great believer in supporting returned servicemen and women in the challenge of dealing with their physical wounds and mental scars as they endeavour to write the next chapter of their lives, Rupert has been a mate and a mentor to many, especially 'The Afghanistan Boys'. Not only those who served our country, but the families of those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in doing so. Rupert hiked the Kokoda Track with many of this species in 2013 and learnt the true meaning of their creed 'Never Above - Never Below - Always Beside... Brothers by Choice...
