RUPERT HONOURED WITH OAM

I was shocked, honoured and humbled to receive an Order of Australia Medal in conjunction with the Queen’s Birthday celebrations this year. One of the greatest things to emerge from that experience was confirmation of the support I enjoy from friends and family – those who have walked beside me on the journey, through thick and thin, up to this point. You wake up the next morning and three letters beside your name does not change the person in the mirror nor the qualities that make him tick. Life goes on and the same challenges present. It does, however, inspire one to revisit the wonderful notion of potential, embrace an even more positive goal and take another significant step forward. At the very least, I’d like to make use of this small ray of spotlight to highlight the causes that remain anchored to the root of my existence. In no particular order, The Kidney Support Network (KSN) www.ksn.org.au The Queensland Institute of Medical Research (QIMR) www.qimr.edu.au and Mates4Mates (M4M) supporting our returned troops www.mates4mates.org

BRISBANE WELCOMES INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Rupert is proudly helping Brisbane's Lord Mayor Graham Quirk welcome international students to his home city.
"Rupert's participation in these Friendship Ceremonies lends a genuine layer of warmth and gratitude to these young people, imagining
what it must be like for them to be away from their families and understanding the faith such families have placed in our society during the
time their sons and daughters are living and studying here. We thank him for setting the scene so magnificently at each Ceremony we hold"
